NCLEX® (and similar examination) type question preparation and assessment program
The second new feature introduced at HPSN World 2013 was the NCLEX® (and similar examination) type question preparation and assessment program.
Abstract word-based problems and assessments should NOT be used as proxy evidence for achievement of competence. However it is common practice to use assessment by word-based problems, integrated with assessment of competence in authentic environments for the award of qualification.
Typical of this, in the USA licensure is dependent on achievement of satisfactory scores on one of two licensure exams for nursing: the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN®) and the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX PN®). Since accurate calculation of medication dosages is an essential aspect of delivering safe patient care, dosage calculation questions are included on both the NCLEX-RN® and NCLEX-PN® examinations. Other countries use similar qualification assessment processes.
In partnership with CAE Healthcare we have added new features to the safeMedicate® environment to support students’ contextual understanding, formative assessment and preparation for solving word-based problems typical of NCLEX type examinations.

This feature will be released as part of our autumn / fall update.
